Course Details
Course Objectives
The course begins with identifying the need for a new site; such as coverage gaps, capacity issues, or service quality improvement; and walks through the technical steps involved in site planning.
Participants will learn how to create a nominal, including determining the ideal location based on radio parameters, defining site objectives, and documenting the plan through a Site Acquisition Report (SAR). The training provides a clear, step-by-step guide to how new sites are proposed, analyzed, qualified, and approved for deployment.
Course Highlights
- Understanding Cellular Network Architecture
Build foundational knowledge of how mobile networks operate from the mobile device to the core network, including components like BTS, BSC/RNC, transmission nodes, and core systems (MSC/MME/SGW). Trainees will visualize the full signal flow and data path
- Understanding the Need for a New Site
Learn how capacity gaps, customer demand, and technology upgrades justify new site rollout decisions.
- Radio Planning Inputs for Site Qualification
Discover how radio planners use traffic reports, coverage tools, and optimization data to justify site creation.
- Nominal Planning Fundamentals
Master how to define a nominal location, simulate coverage, and align with network design standards.
- Site Approval and Internal Validation
Understand the business case, regulatory, and planning board approvals required before rollout begins.
- Candidate Search and Field Evaluation
Explore how engineers identify and assess potential site locations based on terrain, access, and proximity.
- Candidate Site Reports
Learn how to compile technical site sketches, GPS coordinates, and feasibility summaries.
- Site Acquisition Report (SAR) Development
Study how to package evaluations, legal and technical justifications, and recommend the optimal site.
- Final Deployment and Documentation
Get equipped to finalize TSS reports, update network planning tools, and document for implementation.
